ITS MAY ALREADY!!!

This first week of May we are wrapping up a few projects.  We are also planning full steam ahead for Sink Water Pollution Day on May 20.  Below is a more specific look at our work this week.  But first, I want to post a few notices:

MIDDLE SCHOOL NIGHT:
Monday night, May 4th, the CPS Middle Schools are hosting 5th grade families in the evening.
SMITHTON 5-6:30
ALL OTHER MIDDLE SCHOOLS 6-7:30

MEMORY BOOK PHOTOS:
Please send in a baby picture to be scanned or copied from a flash drive for the 5th Grade Memory Book!  Families who do not have a kindergarten picture from Grant are also encouraged to send in a kindergarten photo for their child. You can send in hard copies of the pictures to be scanned or send digital copies by email to ewilson107@gmail.com

FIELD DAY:
Our popular Field Day event is coming up on May 22nd!  We are looking for parents to help make Field Day a success by volunteering some time!  Field Day will have 15 stations of activities that all students will rotate every 12 minutes throughout the morning.  Our rotations will begin at 8:30 with the final rotation concluding at 12:00.  We will need parent volunteers to help starting with our setup at 8:00 Friday, May 22 and to run various stations until noon.  If you are able to help for any duration of time in the morning, please email Cathy Hughes your name and the time frame you are able to join us!  Thanks!

WORK THIS WEEK:
READING: SOLAR SYSTEM POSTER USING NONFICTION FEATURES
WRITING: PLANNING MOVIE SCENES FOR SINK WATER POLLUTION DAY MOVIE
MATH: DIVISION REVEIW, DREAM HOUSE PLANS AREA/PERIMETER
SS: WESTWARD EXPANSION SLIDES
SCIENCE: MACROINVERTEBRATE ORGANISM BOATS

I am also sending home a lot of graded work in the Friday Folders.  I am enjoying grading because student work has been impressive on past assignments.   We will be sending a lot of information home on Hannibal, Civil War Day and end of the year activities too!  Thanks for all your support!  This will be a great May.
