SINK WATER POLLUTION DAY WEDNESDAY 9:30-10:30!! SEND IN CHANGE TO SINK OUR LITTER MACRO BOATS AND RAISE MONEY FOR WATER CONSERVATION!! WATCH OUR WATER CONSERVATION MOVIE AND LISTEN TO THE HIT SONG Oh Splash by GRANT SCHOOL 5th GRADE

Every part of our final days is filled with finishing fun projects and preparing for the End of the Year festivities.  Kids are doing very well as we focus on this final week.  Last week, every student received satisfactory marks in their Friday Folder!  They are doing well on Sink Water Pollution Day group projects and enjoying fun times like Hannibal.  Below is a hodge podge of fun photos from the past couple of weeks.  First, here is the focus for this week:

TODAY: Come and garden at the Ecoschoolhouse at 1:00.  This afternoon, anyone who wishes can come help plant our tomato plants.  These plants were grown in the Ecoschoolhouse by seed in Grant School compost.  Of course, our planting may be thwarted by the weather.  However, I will be there rain or shine with treats for any willing gardeners.

FOCUS THIS WEEK: We have only a few academic projects to focus on this week.  There is also a lot of festivities and fun planned too.

ACADEMIC
1. Finish Power lessons: this health unit focuses on informing students about various categories drugs and how to make healthy choices.  We have already learned about categories of drugs and have focused on tobacco first.
2. Civil War:  We will cover the end of the Civil War and prepare for Civil War Day this week.  Students' last assignment of the year is to write a Civil War letter from the perspective of that time period.  This letter is due Friday.
3. Sink Water Pollution work:  On Monday and Tuesday we will wrap up our science/art/media/music/writing work for Sink Water Pollution Day.  Students will be filming their Water Conservation movie scenes.

SPECIAL EVENTS
MONDAY/TUESDAY:  SINK WATER POLLUTION DAY!!!  On Wednesday at 9:30, 5th graders will share their Weather Conservation Movie, a rap about healthy water they created, teach about macro invertebrates and stream health through their litter art, and raise money for water conservation.  PLEASE SEND IN PENNIES AND OTHER CHANGE TO HELP US RAISE MONEY FOR OUR COMMUNITY PROJECT!!!  We will be testing our boat building by trying to sink our litter boats using the change folks bring in.  We will see how much money our best macro boats can hold!

TUESDAY:
Middle school kids from West Middle School will be coming by to give a middle school presentation.

WEDNESDAY:
IPAD turn in.  Students will be shutting down their devices and urning them in for the summer.

On top of all this, we will be sending home a lot of supplies and students work throughout the week.  Next week is all focus on the End of the Year Party, Graduation, and Memory Books.  There is a letter in the Friday Folder this weekend about how you can help out!

Congrats to the Grant School Generals!  What an impressive season!
Good job to the Pep Squad too.  We enjoyed watching all of you and your talents.

We earned a special science show for doing our best on the MAP test!

Watch out kids, just a little oxygen mixed with other stuff!

Farewell photo with Ms. Maggie Science, who has helped All Stars for 2 years with awesome science projects!
Thanks Ms. Maggie, we will miss you and our tiger talks.

Mrs. Gribble's daughter came and presented on the Veterinarian profession during Career Day!

This is a good shot of the happy faces we saw all day on our Hannibal trip!
It was wet so I do not have many photos but we all had a good time.
